Welcome to the cruise-aiders' website which has been established
to act as a co-ordination point for projects being organized in an informal
way by yachties to help others.
This year we are involved in projects in Papua New Guinea,
in the Louisiade Archipelago. The fleet of eight or more yachts is on
its way for work in August and September. Some of the yachts are laden
with materials for boat building and repairing water tanks, as well as
resources for schools. Most of these items have been donated by businesses,
organisations and individuals.
This all began with an idea Eric Gray had when we visited
the Louisiades in 2007. Yachts 'Erica' and 'Caesura' from New Zealand
and 'Indecision' from Tasmania were travelling together and saw a need
that turned into the projects we are undertaking this year. See 'The Idea'.
We are strictly non-denominational and non-governmental, simply a bunch
of yachties who enjoy helping some of the remote islands we have visited
on our travels.
We have invited like-minded people who get a buzz out of helping others
to join us in seeing our projects come to fruition. The results of
our work will be placed on this website in November 2008.
